Thank you to everyone who joined TB Vets for the swinging event of the season.
As guest walked up the red carpeted steps of Heritage Hall on Friday, October 16th, they could hear the beautiful voice of Stephen Scaccia singing Sinatra classics. Guests were greeted by our vintage dressed doorman who welcomed them and directed them to the registration desk. As the guests left registration with their programs in hand, they noticed the Jitterbugs dance troupe on the dance floor, candy girls selling nostalgic candy, the flair bartender pouring drinks and all the wonderful silent auction items available for bid.
Dal Richards and his orchestra started at 9pm and the dance floor was immediately flooded with dancers. The Jitterbugs dance group dazzled the crowd with their fancy steps and stunning attire. The remainder of the evening was full of dancing, drinking as well as our tribute to our founding members.
Guests learned about TB Vets right after our flair bartender performance. They were introduced to Green Zebra, the Holiday Keytag, Lost and Found It as well as our traditional keytag. As Dal Richards played his last song and the guests were leaving, candy girls handed out them goodie bags and feather boas and thanked them for attending Swinging in the Rain! (See photos of the evening on our gallery page).
Swinging in the Rain was a tremendous success and TB Vets raised
$15,235 for much needed respiratory equipment for BC Hospitals.
TB Vets would like to take this opportunity to thank our guests, silent auction donors, sponsors and volunteers. The success of our event would not be possible without the generous support of these individuals and organizations.
A very special thank you to our MC Kim Seale, singer Stephen Scaccia, the Jitterbugs Dance Troupe, our burlesque dancers, Katamavik Volunteers as well as our event planning coordinator, Alfredo Munoz. The individuals all volunteered their time and talent to make Swinging in the Rain a huge success!
Thank you to our Generous Sponsors
The Story of TB Vets
The story of TB Vets begins with a group of World War II veterans determined to rise above the debilitating effects of tuberculosis. As a creative means of supporting themselves and their families, they founded the keytag program that makes TB Vets a household name today.
After 63 years, we are still embracing the vision of these courageous individuals by employing people with disabilities, providing desperately needed respiratory equipment for hospitals, awarding bursaries to students, and funding research into a cure for tuberculosis. Since 1946, TB Vets has donated over $10,000,000 to BC Hospitals.
We are proud to celebrate diversity as we help BC breathe, and we thank you for the donation that allow us to continue our vital work in BC communities. Join us in celebrating the extraordinary achievements of these veterans and turn a remarkable piece of history into a sustainable future.
